How to Prepare Your Vehicle for Shipping
Vehicles are prepared for traveling to school to make pickup as smooth as possible.
Wash Your Vehicle
When a vehicle is clean, it is easier to note any cosmetic damage present before the inspection.
Remove Personal Belongings
In most cases, it is recommended to clear personal belongings from the car prior to transportation, which most carriers prefer. This means excess weight is saved and that problems while in transit are avoided.
Check Tire Pressure
Make sure all tires are inflated correctly to ensure loading and unloading safety.
Inspect Battery and Fluids
Check battery fluid, if any, and that it is charged. The easier a vehicle is to move, the more mechanically sound it will be.
Leave About One-Quarter Tank of Fuel
A quarter tank should be enough to load and unload without adding to the weight of the vehicle.
Disable Toll Tags
Taking or disabling the electronic toll devices will help avoid any unintentional tolls during transport.
Keep a Spare Key Available
Bringing a spare key with you enables your carrier to move your car safely during loading and unloading if needed.
